EmblemHealth selected Mascioni & Behrmann to lead the A&E design team for their new comprehensive outpatient facility at Bethpage NY. The facility is designed to enhance a patient’s care experience by offering an array of primary and specialty care services all conveniently located under one roof. The new state of the art hub replaced their smaller and outdated Hicksville Medical Office and it is part of an ambitious long term master plan by EmblemHealth for expansion and repositioning in eastern Long Island.

With keeping location in mind, a key concept was to implement one long wide spacious waiting area, in refence to the linearity of Long Island, where each department branches out from.  The main waiting and reception area has a lighting feature of pendant lights that mimic a sublet wave in reference to the water surrounding Long Island.

Each department is laid out to maximize functionality between the Medical Staff and patients. Creating separate travel paths and better accessibility. In part to aid this function, Nurses are centralized in each department under a collective of workstations, providing clear visual to exam rooms and other patient rooms.

Part of this project was also to include an Emblem Health Neighborhood Care. The space though it has it’s own entry, it is also connected to the main medical space. The space provides flexibility for staff work, community events and resources to aid the local community.
